1. To run the demo program just click twice on 'Dreadnoughts demo'. It should run from the CD, but will run slightly better if all the files are copied to a hard disk.
2. The main Dreadnoughts program is capable of running many scenarios, but the demo version just plays one: a fictional battle between two British Dreadnoughts, HMS Dreadnought and HMS Bellerophon, against four German pre-Dreadnought battleships.
3. Suggested first game:
Answer 'Y' to the question 'Do you want a human to play Admiral Sheldrake'
Answer 'N' to the question 'Do you want a human to play Admiral Tapken'
4. The battle starts straight away. You can give up to eight orders in your turn, but you may just like to press the escape key 'esc', and then simply respond to the advice given by your officers.
5. Use the mouse to access the Bridge Plot and Signal book. All signals to your own and other ships are sent using the signal book. Click on the appropriate entry and build up the required sentence. Click on 'Send' to transmit the order. Click on 'Finish' when you have entered all the orders you wish to (this has the same effect as the escape key).
For example: to request a damage status report from Bellerophon click on:
Signal Bellerophon Send me your Damage report Send
6. The Save/Restore game option is not available in the demo version.
7. It is a good idea to hook up your Macintosh to a stereo system
